ShareThisVestas Tests Rail for Turbine Transport (Video)
Vestas has completed the first test run of a new transport system using rail. A 55-meter wind turbine blade left the Lauchhammer factory in Germany on its way to Denmark. This marks the first time turbine components have moved by rail in Europe.
The new transport system is expected to cost less and reduce CO2 emissions compared to shipping by ocean-going vessel, according to the Danish turbine manufacturer.
