The Port of Brownsville in Texas has received the first of two wind tower shipments from China. The 17 towers arrived aboard a Dutch vessel, Royal Wagensborg’s Alamosborg, and will be installed at Duke Energy’s Los Vientos wind farm in Willacy County.
Team members from Dix Shipping, Gulfstream Marine and Lone Star Transportation discharged the shipment, according to a port statement.
The tower pieces were unloaded using the Alamosborg’s crane, placed on trucks and transported to a staging area on port property, where they will remain for approximately two months before they are trucked to the job site.
Over the coming weeks, Brownsville expects an additional 30 towers.
