Antwerp's 2011 Breakbulk Increases 14.8%

The Port of Antwerp expects 2011 volumes to increase 4.6 percent to 186.4 million tonnes, according to preliminary figures.
for 2011 volumes and expects to have handled 186.4 million tonnes of cargo, a 4.6 percent increase over volumes in 2010.

Breakbulk cargo rose 14.8 percent year-over-year to 12.8 million tonnes, the Antwerp Port Authority said in a statement. Roll-on/roll-off volume improved 13.3 percent to 4.2 million tonnes. Antwerp handled 1.06 million cars during the year, a 14.7 percent increase from 2010.

Vessel calls at the port increased 3 percent to 15,230.

Final figures will be released in the second half of January, the port authority said.
