Maersk Line Ltd. Completes U.S. Reflagging

Breakbulk Online - News Story

Maersk Line Ltd. reflagged the Maersk Illinois under U.S. registry in Mobile, Ala. The vessel had returned from Ghana on its maiden voyage.

The 19,600-deadweight-ton vessel is 148 meters long and has two onboard cranes with a combined lift capacity of 480 tonnes.

Maersk Line Ltd. acquired the Illinois and sister vessel Maersk Texas in September 2011 for service under Maersk-Rickmers U.S. Flag Project Carrier. The Illinois will make port calls on inducement around the globe for transporting breakbulk and project cargoes.

The Maersk Texas will also be U.S. flagged, according to a company statement.

Maersk-Rickmers was jointly formed by MLL and Rickmers-Linie (America).
