The Chinese sustainable building company Broad Group has completed a 30-story hotel in 360 hours. It was built near the Dongting lake in the Hunan Province. Broad used prefabricated modules mounted on a steel structure with diagonal steel bracing.
The Broad Group, headquartered in Changsha, China, created the concept “Vertical City” in response to the land shortages that major Asian cities are facing given their high rates of urbanization. The 30-story hotel is the second of the company’s demonstration projects as it prepares to build a 200-story steel building in Dubai, a skyscraper seven times taller than the Empire State Building.
The Dubai Vertical City will accommodate 110,000 people. The structure can be factory-produced within four months, and the whole installation can be finished in two months, Zhang Yue, the group's president, said in a statement.
